Outstanding in the Field is a celebration of food and community, and this fall the tour will stop in Mansfield, Georgia!
THIS IS A TICKETED EVENT. Please purchase tickets through the OITF website.
From the OITF website: “Our roving restaurant without walls is rebuilt every morning and disappears every night. It is a momentary experience and a joyful celebration of human connection. Together we gather at one long table to share the most fundamental and universal human conversation: a meal.”
What OITF has to say about our farm: “We love Love is Love. Our first dinner with farmers Joe and Judith was in 2009 and we spent many years dining in their bountiful fields at Gaia Gardens. In 2021, they collaborated with farmers Monica, Russel, and Demetrius to turn the farm into a worker-owned cooperative, expanding to 70 acres of organic vegetables and flowers to feed the Decatur community. The project’s mission is to increase local food access and improve the livelihood of farm workers and their families, all while working towards a carbon-neutral farming system. We are excited to set the table for the first time at their new spot and toast to their impressive new venture. Guest chefs Maricela, Mike and Shyretha are full of love themselves. Mike and Shyretha run The Plate Sale: a creative culinary cooperative that seeks to empower their community with a celebrated dinner series, local farm restorations and other projects. Maricela runs Chico, a community-based food organization offering homemade masa and other provisions — plus pop-up dinners featuring traditional Mexican flavors and locally sourced ingredients.”
